      This tutorial taught me how to create a clear ball or orb. It started with the elliptical marquee tool and filled it with a light grey, opacity was very low so it appeared to be clear. To add the dimensions and shadows I used the paint brush and outlined the top with black, bottom with white and then changed the opacity to low. You do this twice, on two different layers. I learned how to make the shadow bend for a real sphere shadow by going up to Filter>Distort>Spherize. This made the shadow bend and the words in the center of the ball seem distorted. I really enjoyed this tutorial and feel like I  would know exactly what to do if I tried it again.
